I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Lucky and Liora were two completely different characters sharing the same body, and oh, boy, did they dislike one another. Liora, the human half, just wanted to be a perfectly normal girl, while Lucky, the demon, wanted to kick butt and paint the town red. The switch between the two halves was well done, an the conflict between them was also believable. After all ... who wants to share?

I adored Bones, Lucky's (and it turns out Liora's) half-hellhound, half-incubus friend. I felt sorry for him, though, because he really did love Lucky and his Incubus half made that love impossible. After all, who wants a boyfriend who needs to seduce nubile young virgins every single night to keep that half dominant or he'll turn into a pure hellhound forever?

[*talk about your relationship going to the dogs! *]

The only person I didn't like was Kieron. He was too goody-two-shoes, too patient, too unbelievable, and too perfect. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, to find out he was evil, or had some redeeming character flaw, or something. It never came. All along, it felt as though he was using Lucky/Liora for his own purpose and even the big climax at the end ... meh ... it was almost anti-climatic.

So ... fascinating story ... looking forward to reading the next book in the series ... more Bones! But if I never see Kieron again with the Lucky/Liora shift, I'll be perfectly content.

So much angst! While the story was overall a good one, the characters being split into the good and bad halves made it hard to like either one. Yes, the author managed to capture the anxiety, frustration, and foolishness of being a young girl, but so many times I felt that she was either 14 or 30. I very much disliked that the demon half ignored everything rational - but was supposedly so amazing at what she did. To me, she came across as a fool.

With all of that negativity out of the way, the world, the concept, and the overall story was a good one. The theme was great. The writing was clean and clear, and I saw no typos (so if they were there, they were very minor!). Maybe I picked up the wrong genre for my personal tastes. Maybe I just wanted the female character(s) to be stronger? I am not sure, but sadly I won't be reading any more of this series.
I REALLY like this book!! I think Ms. King did an incredible job with this story, and I do have to say that I cannot wait to read into this series further. We learn about Liora, who is a pretty sad, lonely person. She is cursed to be separated from her demon-side. Human by day; demon by night. On the flip side there is Lucky, Liora's demon. She is dead-set on dissing out justice to any and all she sees fit to somehow get revenge for her beloved friends. Soon a new guy rolls into town who isn't all who he seems to be, Keiron. He is too dang hot for his own good. Also, Lucky's friend, Bones, isn't so bad himself with his seductive ways. We always hear about angel stories, well now there's a new story about demons which I like almost better than all the angel ones combined!! This book ends on such a cliffhanger, though!!! I do understand the need to get people interested in the next book, but I absolutely hate having to wait to get the next book because I'm going to read it anyways!! I do NOT enjoy being left hanging. I high recommend this book to the YA crowd and those of you, who like me, are interested in the good AND bad paranormal creatures hatched out of imaginative minds!!!
She's Liora Greyson by day, Lucky the Demon by night. When Liora was in her sapie/human form, all she really just wanted was to be left alone. She didn't want to draw attention to herself. But then she met Kieron Ambrose and she suddenly saw herself in a new light. Keiron and Liora both had dark secrets of their own. And she didn't want Lucky to have anything to do with them.

Despite sharing the same body, Liora hated the demon inside her. Actually she hated all the demons because of what they did to her half incubus friend, Bones. She really hated Lucky and didn't want her in her life.

Lucky, the demi-demon by night had no choice but to wait and be awaken from dusk til dawn so she could do whatever she needed to do hunt and slay demons, torment humans and bring justice to those who deserve it. Although she wanted to do all these in her own little time, she didn't have a choice but wait until Liora slept. This was caused by a spell cast by monsters that split her soul in two.

Now they both met Kieron and all hell broke loose. Literally. Both girls got interested in him, and vice versa. But how would Liora react once she learned that Kieron was the kind of guy she wanted to stay away from?

This was a great Halloween read, I enjoyed every minute of it! The plot was amazingly unique - imagine sharing the same body with a demon. Ugh! Actually, I pity the body that inhabits this two girls, because she gets used 24/7. No rest, no sleep, no time to hibernate! Plus the guys were to-die for. I think both Bones and Kieron were cute and loveable and sooo gorgeous! I don't care whether the other one had dark secrets or the other one was troublesome - they're both sexy as hell and I liked it!

Penelope King is a great author, I have no more words to say. I don't know how she had managed to create a mystifying fantasy that made a 30+ year old (me) swoon and giggle like a teenager. Yep, this is geared for the Young Adults, so what does a mom like me doing, reading Demonblood? Well, my answer is simple I know how to appreciate a good read and Ms King's book is definitely worth-reading.
