Eden Fading eBook Michael Barnett
As I am well acquainted with part of the Barnett family, this is a very interesting read for me. I am amazed that the beginnings of this family were as rugged as they were, judging by the apparent closeness of the family now.Well done, Mr. Barnett. I fully enjoyed your book, and am thankful that your nephew and his wife encouraged me to read it!

Eden Fading eBook Michael Barnett Reviews
Michael Barnett is an author who will draw you into the story from the very first page and keeps the action flowing. While it may seem strange that such young children can get into so much trouble, the plot to Eden Fading is realistic when taken in context with the belief of good versus evil and the way those forces can affect people of all ages. The main characters are well-developed and the reader gets a look into their minds to see what drives them through the action of the story. The plot is thrilling and will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next. It isn't until the end of the book that the reader will discover the forces acting upon young Danny Walker. That ending is very well-written and an excellent climax to the events that occur throughout the book.
Eden Fading fits nicely into the Christian fiction category and I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys Christian fiction. I look forward to reading any other books that Michael Barnett writes in the future. - Sheila Rae Myers, Author.
After reading but a couple chapters of Michael Barnett's Eden Fading I had no doubt that this beautiful but frightening story was based on actual events. Rarely have I been so engrossed in a story of such a real family, suffering very real catastrophe but also so redeemed by their very real faith in God.
Having grown up in Southern California myself Eden Fading brought back many fun memories for me like a glut of drive-in theaters, sand covered days at the beach, the delicious decision between Knott's Berry Farm, Disneyland, or Universal Studios...aahhh...good times!
Eden centers around three brothers, Danny, Wayne, and Eddie and their long-suffering parents. While Wayne and Eddie are your typical rambunctious children, Danny, despite his adorable childhood photos scattered throughout the novel, seems to have inherited a bit of the Demon Seed. (One of Danny's favorite things to yell is "I'm going to kill you!" and he was not kidding!) As the kids grow up, so does Danny's malevolence. His mother and father naturally insist their own way is the best in dealing with Danny but simply keeping their other children safe from Danny takes up almost all their time.
It could be easy to assume that because a story is autobiographical in nature, character development would be easy - but nothing could be further from the truth. Having read literally hundreds of biographies and memoirs, I can say with some authority that Michael Barnett does an excellent job of bringing to life his family members in a way that many biographers simply do not or cannot do.
Eden Fading is magnificently written and I can highly recommend it to Christian families or perhaps even to those who would like a reason to appreciate their own good children a little bit more!
A must read!
Fascinating story about a family of four boys growing up in Southern California in the early sixties. The oldest boy, Mike, is the main character, and the story follows his life from 1961, when he is just over three to 1965, when he is seven. Mike has an evil personality, and is repeatedly getting into trouble, poison is younger brother, Jerry, and continually doing evil, hurtful things to his younger brother, showing little or no remorse.
The author uses an unusual writing style where the story is narrated in the first person by people who initially refer to themselves as "we" and later as "the watchers". They seem to be just observers, however, the final chapter brings light to the relationship between 'the watchers" and the family.
Michael Barnett has written an interesting story about a family of boys growing up in California in the sixties. He develops the scenes in the book with incredible detail, using all the senses to describe all the characters and the settings. Although this is not the genre I would normally read, I have no problem recommending this book to others.
EDEN FADING by Michael Barnett is a poignant read. I mulled over page by page as terror and evil were intricately woven among innocence and vulnerability in the heartbreaking truth. The metamorphosis was unexpected and lovely. I couldn't put this book down and read it through non-stop. I'm a voracious reader and this was hands-down the best book of 2012 in IMHO. I would recommend this to any parent/family whose dealing with a situation that seems to be overwhelming or oppressive, as it gave me hope for triumph through faith.
As I am well acquainted with part of the Barnett family, this is a very interesting read for me. I am amazed that the beginnings of this family were as rugged as they were, judging by the apparent closeness of the family now.
Well done, Mr. Barnett. I fully enjoyed your book, and am thankful that your nephew and his wife encouraged me to read it!
